Engineering Stores Buyer – Askeaton

Job description

You will be responsible for the sourcing of non-stock items and/or ad hoc stock items as required from new and existing Suppliers in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal procedure(s).

Your duties will involve

  • To source non-stock items and/or ad hoc stock items on request of the Client in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal procedure(s)
  • To assist the Client in the selection of goods and to advise of alternative products where appropriate to negotiate cost reductions
  • To obtain quote requests for new items and to amend Purchase Information Records (PIRs) accordingly
  • To liaise directly with the Procurement department with respect to additional product information where necessary
  • To effectively and proactively identify and rectify price variances and potential lead time issues
  • To process orders as required with the correct procedure
  • Liaise with customers to resolve any invoice queries
  • To support with the expediting of all outstanding purchase orders when required
  • To liaise directly with customers in receipt of direct orders to confirm the delivery of goods and to update IESA records on SAP accordingly
  • To efficiently respond to plant stopper situations, queries and urgent item(s) requests received from the Client
  • To establish and maintain rapport with the Client and all levels of Supplier personnel and Contractors
  • To carry out such other duties which are consistent with the nature and responsibilities of the job role

Experience required

Previous buying experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment desirable

Sound knowledge of SAP applications advantageous

Essential skills

  • Self-motivated together with a positive attitude to deliver excellent Client experience and satisfaction
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills through sound intuition and reasoning
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ICT skills with proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
