Training and Development Manager

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining T&D solutions within IESA/Synovos – aligned to the global T&D strategy. This will include documenting operational processes, establishing a change management ecosystem, and building repeatable, sustainable training programs for IESA/Synovos with particular focus on ensuring site operations team (account managers, site managers, procurement specialists and inventory specialists) in customer warehouses are appropriately on-boarded and trained in the essential technical and soft skills.

Your duties will involve

  • Partner with Operations and Continuous Improvement teams to ensure our training curriculum reflects optimal process and current SOPs
  • Work with subject matter experts to maintain, update and develop standard operating procedures to nurture sustainable growth
  • Create, establish, and track key metrics and performance data to proactively communicate training opportunities within the operation
  • Develop and establish a centralized repository of training materials and documented processes, aligned to the global “one platform” My Academy strategy
  • Develop technical onboarding curriculums for our leadership teams and associates as they join IESA/Synovos, aligned to our global approach
  • Track training compliance data and create mechanisms that keep operations teams aware of training opportunities through our global platform, My Academy
  • Establish a change management system for operational processes that establishes revision histories and updates
  • Facilitate and document in-person and virtual training sessions across all teams to prepare and educate employees on new processes within the organization
  • Assess training needs through a variety of methods, engaging colleagues at all levels
  • Develop strategies to close skill gaps; leverage gap analysis to determine learning priorities
  • Develop career pathing maps across IESA/Synovos, aligned to the global Career Framework
  • Deliver high-impact learning strategies and curriculum based on competencies that facilitate on-the-job training, and document training effectiveness for continuous improvement
  • Help to identify strategies to embed continuous, on the job coaching and learning into the culture, train managers to provide constructive feedback, and effectively incorporate on the job learning opportunities into the employee development strategy
  • Provide essential training to site operations teams to ensure optimal customer service support and success in execution of contractual requirements
  • Provide career and development coaching for managers and employees.
  • Gather and analyze performance, engagement, development, and stakeholder data to identify trends/opportunities to design, implement, continuously evolve, and refine solutions
  • Participate with RS Group’s VP Talent & Development and team, regional and other peers in the development and implementation of L&D processes and practices
  • Support IESA/Synovos in the implementation and administration of the global Diversity and Inclusion strategy
  • Support the definition of RS Group best practices for employee satisfaction and engagement within IESA/Synovos, of which these strategies and programs will play an integral part

  • Demonstrated ability to establish a strong partnership with the human resources partners and other members of management.
  • Strong ability to continuously understand current, and anticipate future, training and development needs and design interventions/options for preparing our workforce to meet the needs.
  • Strong instructional/curriculum design skills and experience.
  • Strong program/project management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively impact effective communication and respectful behavior within the workplace.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills; ability to communicate using a broad spectrum of media and adapt for various audiences.
  • Significant experience working productively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for instructional manuals and teaching platforms
  • Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budgets, and schedules
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software.


Education and/or Experience: 

  • At least five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant previous experience as with learning and development, corporate training specialist, or related position
  • Experience developing training programs for workers in industrial settings
  • Previous experience in a multi-state or global environment preferred
  • Substantial experience of T&D design and execution gained
  • Experience of working within a global, matrix organisation and as a member of a high performing virtual team
  • Demonstrated experience advancing a long-term T&D agenda, while executing on short-term initiatives
  • Proven record of successfully managing a T&D offering in a complex, multi-location business model
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
